At Worlingworth Primary we believe that learning and applying the English skills of reading, writing and discussion is the right of every child and the very foundation of children’s learning, upon which they can quickly build a strong fortress of knowledge and understanding from our whole curriculum. In order to achieve this foundation, our English Curriculum is threaded through all that we do and this golden thread ignites our children’s curiosity and creativity and provides opportunities to communicate and challenge their thinking.  We believe that a quality English curriculum should develop children’s passion for words and reading, enjoyment with writing and confidence when speaking. We aim to inspire an appreciation of our rich and varied literary heritage and a habit of reading widely and often - strengthening their imaginations and broadening their horizons. We value the importance of nurturing a culture where all children take pride in their writing, can write clearly and accurately and adapt their language and style for a range of contexts. We want to inspire children to be confident in the art of speaking and listening and who can use discussion and shared performance to express and further their learning.
Our English Curriculum, which follows a clear pathway of progression, enables children to develop a secure knowledge-base in English as they advance through primary school. We aim to deliver a high-quality English education that allows our children to succeed in the next stages of their education and to participate fully in society.
